Our annual Fly-Tying Classes this winter run Tuesday evenings, 7-9PM, from January 25, through March 15, 2022, and we would love to have your help to make this year’s classes the best they have ever been! Instead of tying flies this winter with Jim Beam for company while the cold winds blow outside your tying studio, brave the elements and come remember what it was like when you were first getting started by sharing your valuable experience with those eager to learn.  You can come for one night or the entire 8 weeks if you like.  We are looking for chapter members who would like to help with these classes in a variety of capacities.

The Beginner’s Classes need mentors to assist and advise the students as they work on practicing their patterns in the class.  For CVTU to maintain its legacy of being one of the most vital, energized and productive TU chapters in Pennsylvania and beyond, we must always be cultivating relationships with those who have newly discovered the magic of fly fishing the beautiful waters of our valley.  This is a wonderful opportunity to help introduce mostly newer fly fishers to this gratifying aspect of our sport and to enjoy the fellowship of others who share our love of fishing the waters we are invested in protecting and nurturing.

We are also interested in women and men who would like to share a few of their patterns with the Advanced Classes.  (Understand, please, that the term “Advanced” in this context is a relative term. We are not only looking for professionals who can tie show quality complex patterns.)  If you have enjoyed to thrill of working through refusals and fishless casts until your patterns finally seemed to unlock the mystery of what the fish were looking for, or if someone has shared patterns that have been consistent producers for you, this is an opportunity for you to share your wealth of experience by showing class participants a few of your favorite fly patterns.

If any of that sounds like fun to you, please contact the Class Coordinator, Jonathan Daniels, at jonboar@aol.com or call (717) 448-1774. Looking forward to talking to you!
